Terms of Service

Last updated: September 3, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of SchemeLedger: VAT Margin (“SchemeLedger,” “the Service”) and are written for business users — specifically Shopify merchants — and are not intended for consumer use.

Agreement

By installing, accessing or using SchemeLedger, you agree to these Terms on behalf of the business you represent. SchemeLedger is currently in pre-launch preparation and is not yet available for public installation from the Shopify App Store. These Terms describe the terms that will govern use of the Service once access is granted, and already apply to any pre-launch access we provide.

Operator

SchemeLedger is operated by Automatify Handelsbolag, organisation number 969782-2584, of Körsbärsvägen 9, 616 90 Åby, Sweden.

Service description

SchemeLedger is a Shopify application designed to help merchants structure VAT Margin Scheme records. It connects merchant-confirmed acquisition information with relevant Shopify order financial data, checks whether required inputs are available, calculates VAT margin based on confirmed inputs, preserves ledger records, and supports reporting and export workflows.

SchemeLedger is not tax, accounting or legal advice

SchemeLedger is software. SchemeLedger does not determine whether a merchant, transaction, product, purchase or sale legally qualifies for VAT Margin Scheme treatment.

  • The merchant is responsible for determining eligibility and treatment under applicable law.
  • The merchant is responsible for confirming acquisition prices, VAT rates, product treatment/classification, evidence and other required inputs.
  • The merchant remains responsible for tax filings, bookkeeping, recordkeeping and compliance obligations.
  • Merchants should obtain professional advice where necessary.

Merchant responsibilities

By using SchemeLedger, the merchant confirms that it has authority to connect and use the relevant Shopify store, and agrees to:

  • provide accurate and lawful input data;
  • correctly classify and configure products and transactions within the workflow;
  • keep account credentials and access secure;
  • use the Service lawfully and in accordance with these Terms;
  • review items marked REVIEW_REQUIRED rather than assume incomplete transactions are correct; and
  • validate reports and exports before relying on them for statutory or filing purposes.

Readiness and review states

SchemeLedger organizes workflow items into readiness states to help merchants track their VAT Margin Scheme records:

  • READY means the required application inputs and checks configured in the SchemeLedger workflow are satisfied — it does not mean the item is tax compliant, legally eligible, or approved by any authority.
  • REVIEW_REQUIRED means SchemeLedger has identified missing, incomplete or ambiguous information that requires merchant review.
  • EXCLUDED means the item falls outside the configured SchemeLedger workflow.

These states describe application logic only. They are not a legal or tax determination.

Calculations and records

VAT margin calculations depend on merchant-confirmed and configured inputs together with Shopify financial data. Inaccurate inputs can produce inaccurate outputs. Preserved ledger records and calculation snapshots represent the information and calculation state at the time they were created. Reports and exports generated by SchemeLedger are tools for the merchant’s own use and are not official filings submitted by SchemeLedger on the merchant’s behalf.

Shopify dependency

SchemeLedger depends on Shopify APIs and platform availability and functionality to operate. Shopify is a separate third party, and nothing in these Terms implies that Shopify endorses or is responsible for SchemeLedger. Functionality may be affected by changes to Shopify’s platform, permissions, API availability, data availability, or platform restrictions outside our control.

Availability and changes

SchemeLedger may change as it develops. Features may be modified, added or removed as the Service is improved. Interruptions can occur, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service.

Accounts and access

Merchants are responsible for access to their own Shopify store and for any users they authorize to use SchemeLedger through that store. The exact account and authentication model may evolve as the Service develops.

Fees and billing

Any applicable price, billing interval, trial terms (if any), and other commercial terms will be presented to the merchant before the relevant charge is accepted. Where applicable, charges may be processed through Shopify’s billing system.

Intellectual property

SchemeLedger, the SchemeLedger website, and the underlying software remain the property of Automatify Handelsbolag or its licensors. Merchants retain their rights in the data they provide through the Service. These Terms grant merchants a limited right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms; no other rights are granted.

Data and privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes how we process information through the Service and website, and forms part of these Terms by reference.

Acceptable use

You must not use SchemeLedger to:

  • engage in unlawful activity;
  • attempt unauthorized access to the Service or related systems;
  • interfere with or attempt to compromise the security or operation of the Service;
  • attempt to misuse, damage or overburden the Service;
  • infringe the intellectual property or other rights of any party; or
  • use the Service in violation of Shopify’s policies or applicable law.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access to SchemeLedger for material breach of these Terms, security risk, unlawful use, or reasons related to the Shopify platform, including loss of required Shopify permissions or app removal. Merchants may stop using or uninstall the app at any time through their Shopify admin.

Disclaimer

To the extent permitted by applicable law, SchemeLedger is provided on an “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind beyond those that cannot be excluded by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet every merchant’s specific requirements.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Automatify Handelsbolag excludes liability for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law, including under mandatory Swedish or EU law.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without prejudice to any mandatory rules that apply. As SchemeLedger is intended as a business-to-business service, we encourage merchants to first attempt to resolve any dispute with us informally by contacting us using the details below.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, including as SchemeLedger’s commercial and technical details are finalized ahead of public launch. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
